"Attention HBC community! TOY DRIVE TONIGHT (12/16) & TOMORROW (12/17) Join H-BC student council in participating in the toy drive. Here are the details: Who: H-BC student council is hosting this event and all items are being donated to the Sanford Children's Hospital for their Christmas event. What: A toy drive! Please see the attached items listed for what to donate. Note that we will accept any unopened and new toy and item, the listed are suggestions and most needed. Where: Bring it to the admission gate when you come to one of the games! Or if you are not planning on going to the game and still want to make a donation feel free to drop the item off one of these nights! COMMUNITY MEMBERS: You will get a free entry to the game for donating an item (1 item = 1 admission) but feel free to donate any amount of items! STUDENTS: Bring your donation to the concession stand for a free drink OR a free candy ($2 value). When: Monday Dec. 16 Girls Basketball Game vs. Luverne AND Tuesday Dec. 17 Boys Basketball Game vs Luverne. Participate in one or both nights! Why: The holiday season is a time for generosity, and giving holds a special significance during this time of year. It’s a chance to spread joy, show appreciation, and connect with others in meaningful ways. Acts of giving—whether through gifts, donations, or volunteering—help create a sense of community. For many, the holidays can be a difficult time, and a simple act of kindness can make a world of difference. By giving, we not only bring happiness to others, but we also enrich our own lives, reinforcing the values of empathy, gratitude, and compassion that make the season so meaningful. State-Bound! Congrats to the Banana Sharks & EELectric Engineers for qualifying for the South Dakota State Robotics Competition at Augustana University on March 8th, 2025. Both teams finished in the top six teams. The Eelectric Engineers tied the highest score on the robot table. Well done to these ELITE 6th/7th/8th graders & coaches Ms. Moore & Mr. Tollefson. #HBCRobotics





A shout out to Blake Hanisch, a CPA from Rens & Hanisch in Larchwood, IA, and a HBC graduate, recently spoke with the 12th grade Personal Finance students about different types of taxes. His insights provided students with practical, real-life advice on taxes. A big thank you for sharing this valuable knowledge with our students! #HBCLearning


Congrats to our Jr. High Knowledge Bowl Team (7-9th graders) on the Regional Knowledge Bowl this past week at SMSU! We had one HBC team qualify (17th out of 42 total teams) for the Super-Regional Event in January! Well done HBC! #Patriotpride

HBC Secondary (Grades 6-12th) Reminder - Tonight, Thursday, December 12th are the HBC Secondary Parent/Teacher Conferences from 4:00 - 7:30 PM. Please make sure to check email for Quarter 2 Midterm Grades and come visit with your student's teachers to discuss their academic progress. No appointment necessary. See you tonight! #HBCSecondary


Friendly Reminder - HBC has an Early Dismissal today, Thursday, December 12th! HBC Secondary will be dismissed at 12:45 PM & HBC Elementary will be dismissed at 1:00 PM.


8th grade students building truss bridges to see which bridge can hold the most weight! Students learned about types of bridges and discussed bridge components. They are currently working with partner on building design. Great STEM project.

HBC 8th grade boys went 2-0 today at Adrian/Ellsworth Tourney! Defeated SWC 45-35! Defeated Adrian-Ellsworth 27-19 to take home the hardware! Congrats HBC 8th Graders Boys & Coach Metzger! #HBCBasketball
