May 17, 2024

Dear H-BC Parents and Secondary Students,

As the school year comes to a close, we want to share important information about our check-out procedures for the last day of school on Wednesday, May 22nd. Please review the details below to ensure a smooth and efficient process for all students.

The last day of school this year, May 22nd, will be a full day for students. The morning will be an early out schedule where students will tie up loose ends in each of their class periods until lunch. During this time, students will be responsible for getting signatures for turning in textbooks and materials as well as completing any missing assignments.

  • If your student has any outstanding fees or fines, please ensure they are paid before the last day of school. This includes lunch balances, library fees, and other charges.

  • After lunch, we will be celebrating the end of the school year with a special event put on by the student council. Students will have the option to participate in crafts, bingo, different yard game tournaments as well as being able to purchase ice cream from the SDSU Ice Cream Truck. Please make sure your student brings money if they would like to purchase ice cream.  See attachment for activities.

  • The last twenty minutes of the school day the students will return to their advisor who will verify that all materials have been returned and that students have no outstanding obligations.

  • School will conclude at 3:15 PM.

We appreciate your cooperation in making the last day of school a success. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.  Please make every effort to have your student be at the last day of school to tie up loose ends and celebrate a successful 23-24 school year.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year. We wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer break!

Go Patriots!

Mr. Kellenberger

HBC Secondary Principal

MDE Redesigning Assessment Reports – Your Voice Matters!

Families, educators, and students (grades 8–12): Do you have ideas about how the statewide assessment results, like the MCA, could be shared with the public and school and district staff?

For parents...

MDE is beginning the process of redesigning the statewide assessment reports. This includes evaluating how student results are organized and communicated (including the labels like "does not meet” or “exceeds" the standards, and what the reports will look like for new academic standards). The redesigned reports will be seen for the first time in summer and fall 2025.

Please take the survey to share your experience. It should take no longer than 15 minutes. The survey is now open for submissions until May 19. Responses are completely anonymous.

Your voice is important to this process. We appreciate your time and consideration.

Please reach out to mde.testing@state.mn.us with any questions or concerns about the survey or feedback process.
