A message from the Superintendent
Our site has been designed to provide you easy access to a host of news and information about our elementary school and high school.
Our schools serve communities of Hills, Beaver Creek and Steen. We are located in the extreme corner of southwest Minnesota. Our school district borders Iowa to the south and South Dakota to the west. Sioux Falls, South Dakota is only a 20-minute drive from our communities in the Hills-Beaver Creek School District.
The Hills-Beaver Creek School District serves approximately 350 students. Students in preschool through grade six attend school in Beaver Creek in a building which was constructed in 1997. Students in grades 7 - 12 attend high school in Hills.
Our communities have been and continue to be very supportive of our schools. The residents of the school district voted to build an elementary school in 1996 with almost 80% yes votes. We usually have 100% of our elementary parents and nearly 90% of our high school parents attend parent-teacher conferences. The communities are committed to the qualities of family life, honest work and the value of an education.
Our schools are very successful when compared to other Minnesota schools. We have been selected by Standard and Poor’s as one of the top 22 school districts in the entire state. Our elementary school has received many 5-star ratings from the Minnesota Department of Education. The 5-star rating is the highest rating a school can receive. The high school provides students with an opportunity to earn college credits through the use of online classes.
Hills-Beaver Creek Public Schools provide a strong commitment to academic excellence in a safe and caring environment. The exemplary staff works hard to meet the needs of every individual student in classes with a low ratio of students to teachers. The staff gets to know every student as an individual and the success of every student is their goal.
